What makes PATRIOT worth the investment?
A thermal monocular’s value extends beyond sensor resolution. Battery endurance, optical flexibility, access to useful field information, and ease of everyday operation all shape the ownership experience.
The PATRIOT range brings these capabilities together for users who spend extended periods observing outdoors. Choose the model that matches your priorities: the L50 for focused observation, the H50 for higher sensor resolution and a wider view, or the L50 Pro for the flexibility of two optical focal lengths.
The L50 Pro offers a particularly clear advantage: 25 mm for scanning and 50 mm for closer examination of distant objects. Switching focal lengths changes the optical image captured by the sensor, giving you greater flexibility than a single-focal-length system.
For buyers who regularly need both a broad overview and higher optical magnification, that versatility provides a practical reason to invest.
Two focal lengths. One monocular. Greater observation flexibility
The PATRIOT 2 L50 Pro brings wide-area scanning and focused long-range observation together in one thermal monocular. Its defining advantage is a dual-focal-length 25/50 mm optical system, allowing users to choose the view that suits the situation.
Dual-focus optics: a practical advantage over a single focal length
A single-focal-length monocular provides one native balance between magnification and field of view. The L50 Pro gives users two optical configurations:
- 25 mm / 2.4×: a wider 10.5° × 7.9° view for scanning and following movement.
- 50 mm / 4.8×: a narrower 5.3° × 4.0° view for closer examination of distant objects.
Start with the wider view to locate an object, then switch to 50 mm to examine it more closely. Both tasks are handled by the same device.
Optical magnification that captures more detail
Switching from 25 mm to 50 mm doubles the native optical magnification. The object occupies more of the sensor image before digital enlargement, providing more captured detail to examine.
This is the central benefit of dual-focus optics: users can change how the scene is captured, rather than relying solely on enlarging the existing image.
Germanium optics and a highly sensitive thermal sensor
The germanium objective works with a 384 × 288 VOx sensor rated at NETD ≤18 mK, helping reveal subtle temperature differences.
Up to 20 hours of battery life
Extended battery life supports prolonged observation. An intelligent battery indicator helps users monitor available power and plan recharging.
Actual runtime depends on temperature, settings, and enabled features.
Navigation and environmental information
Integrated GPS, compass, azimuth, altitude, and temperature readings add useful context to the thermal image, helping users maintain orientation while observing.
AI-assisted distance estimation
An AI-assisted rangefinder provides estimated distance information to complement the observed image and help users assess the scene.
Password protection
Password locking restricts unauthorized use, giving owners additional control over access during storage, transport, or if the device is lost.
Record, review, and share
64 GB of internal memory provides storage for photos and videos. Cable and Wi-Fi video transmission support viewing on compatible Windows, Android, and iOS devices through suitable software.
Two eyecups included
A standard eyecup and a “cat’s eye” eyecup allow users to choose their preferred fit for different viewing conditions.
Why choose the L50 Pro?
The dual-focus system gives the L50 Pro a clear practical advantage: users can scan with a wider view and examine distant objects with higher optical magnification, without carrying a second monocular.
Combined with extended battery life, integrated sensors, recording, and connectivity, this flexibility makes the L50 Pro a versatile observation tool.
